Go to www.youtube.com in your favourite web browser and either sign in or create an account in the top right of the site. Creating an account is easy, just like on site you enter your email address, a few details and choose a username:

Once signed up or signed in, find the Upload link in the top right of the website and click it.

Now you can drag and drop your video onto the page on the screen that should appear as shown below.

If you haven’t edited your raw footage and/or it is in a format that is not accepted by Youtube, now is a good time to use a video editor. The video producing software that usually come installed on your computer (you may not even know you have them!) are quite powerful and easy to use. Windows Live Movie Maker comes with Windows XP, Vista and 7, iMovie is included in the Mac iLife suite.
While your video is uploading you can start adding detailed description about it. Here is a good example of what to enter:

Putting KM Kent Cooks in the title and the name of your recipe will make it easier for your video to be identified and processed by us and show overall good presentation. In the description box you can give any additional details about the video. Adding ‘Entry for the KM Kent Cooks Contest –
http://bit.ly/KentCooksEntry’ will let other people know what you’re doing and why, it’d be a great help to spread the word!
Adding tags will make the video much more easily findable for us should you lose your video link or forget your username or password. Suggested tags are ‘km charity team kent cooks’ with no spaces or quotation marks. You can add anything else you feel is appropriate.
The category listing does not affect your entry but as it’s a cooking video, Howto & Style is accepted as the most appropriate.
The Privacy setting defaults to Public where anybody on Youtube can see the video, but if anyone involved is really shy you can set it to Unlisted. It won’t be searchable on Youtube but we can still view it with the link you provide.
When you have finished, click Save changes. The screen will let you know when the video has finished uploading and the link for sharing your video will appear under ‘Sharing options’. The one you want is the ‘URL’ (Unique Resource Locator). When you click on the link it will tell you it has been copied. You can then paste it in your application or send it in an email to us.
Now you’re ready to go!
